Drew's Birthday Week

Drew had what we call, a birthday week! His birthday was on a Tuesday, and he was supposed to have a meeting that evening ( of course it got canceled). So we dropped Peyton off at Nay Nay's house and went to a matinee. We saw "Mud" which was great except for one of the young boys in it who loved to cuss. WHY do they have to do that? Anywho, we ate way too much popcorn which thankfully didn't bring my sugar up.

Since we didn't have to rush home for his meeting, he wanted to stop by a shooting range. That's right - we are now a gun owning family. Apparently it's a must in Mount Airy. ;) I got him one for his 'graduation-birthday-father's day- and anything else I can think of' present. Shooting scared me too death at first but I got used to it and didn't do too horribly.

That night we ate out, and then ate the yummy cake I made him. We are a house divided in the debate over vanilla/chocolate. So we compromise. :) DE-LICIOUS.

I made him a favorite dinner that Thursday night. I would have done it on his birthday but you remember, we thought he had a meeting. Anyway, he loves a steak sandwich out of Pioneer Woman's Cookbook so that's what we did. We spent that evening playing with Peyton's new water table. :)

Saturday morning we went to North Surry's graduation to see a couple teenagers graduate. After that some Roanoke friends came to our house to hang out for the day. It was a wonderful day of bbq, Putt Putt, Battle of the Sexes, Ice Cream at Opie's Candy Store, Chili's and some downtime while the kids played.

Monday we celebrated Drew's and Jeremy's birthday with my mom and sister. That's for another post.

sickly

My baby has a cold, or something.. He wakes up often, screaming. He has a super stuffy nose and eats constantly, but not a lot at a time. He definitely isn't himself, but when we took him for a walk tonight, he was wonderful. Apparently the poor guy needed some fresh air  to wiggle his toes! He was wide-eyed the whole walk, and then we stayed outside to watch Drew rake our front yard ( a project from the last plumbing incident). He was just as happy as a clam.

Really though, how happy are clams??

I will say though, that I raised him up in the air to play with him and he was NOT a fan of that. Poor baby screamed so hard I thought I had broken something! Note to self... 6 week old babies - no matter how smiley they appear to be- are not old enough to handle too much playfulness. At least not my sensitive boy. So glad that he enjoy himself a little today. Hears to hoping he sleeps well tonight!

good for the glutes

Monday is date day/night in the Hunsley household because it's Drew's day off. While we will be letting Peyton stay with grandparents for some dates, I enjoy dating both my man and boy. :) Last Monday Peyton took a long morning nap which allowed Drew and I some time to chat and be lazy together.

Then that evening we enjoyed a walk around the neighborhood. We have a great neighborhood by the way! It was wonderful!

Afterwards, we were going to cook dinner together, thinking Peyton would sleep. HA, that didn't happen so we tried a new recipe but Drew cooked while P and I watched. It was an arroz con pollo recipe, but we weren't a fan. Oh well, for every great new recipe there is usually a bad one.

Afterwards, we were going to build a fire but thought better of it since we had a little one with tiny lungs that still wasn't asleep. So we settled in our cozy basement to watch a movie and relax. I love my little family!

popcorn - it's what's for dinner

Drew and I (and Peyton) decided to get out of the house yesterday. It took us til close to 4 before we were up and showered and Peyton was fed, but we then we ventured out! He made me close my eyes, as he was going to surprise me and take me to a Japanese steakhouse, but it was closed. Although we were starving, we drove by Tanglewood mall and remembered that they have $5 movie tickets in the afternoon. So my two men took me to see This Means War. It was mostly chick flick, but have enough fighting/shooting/stuff blowing up to make it an okay pick for Drew as well. We also bought a big bag of popcorn to replace our mid day meal. Delicious if I do say so myself. While eating said popcorn, I bit down on what I thought was a kernel, spit it out, and then realized there was a sharp spot on my tooth. UH OH. I made a mental note to call the dentist this morning because it was either a chipped tooth or cracked filling. Yuck, I really hate going to the dentist! Anyway, the movie was good, and we stopped by Papa John's to complete our eating food that's totally bad for you day. Thank you Superbowl for picking the right coin toss, you gave us free dinner and a free soda. Score! ;)

I headed to the dentist this morning and 30 minutes later I was numb and yet sore, but fixed. I did crack a filling, but thankfully all is well. Well, it will be when I can feel my tongue again. I don't know about y'all but I always worry about biting my tongue/cheek. I am NOT a fan of having sores in my mouth. End of Rant.

Having a date night was very much needed and will be a must starting now. How did Peyton do you ask? Slept the whole time. ;) I think I might like dating this two men!
