scalpel? check. syringe? check.

It's been a super busy week for us! It started out great, spending time with this cutie.

going down to Winston-Salem to drop this cutie at home

and squeeze this cutie.

Wednesday I 'went under the knife' to get some moles removed. It was gross but I enjoyed chatting it up with my nurse and doctor. They were pretty swell despite the fact they were causing me pain. Yuck.

Because of my tiny procedure, I have not been able to snuggle my baby nearly enough. Drew has been great help but it still makes me sad.

Today Peyton had his 2 month check up, which included his first shot. :( He did so well the whole appointment until the end when he was stuck. Poor baby slept a lot today, and also cried pitifully. a lot.

BTW, he now weighs 13 lbs, 8 oz. and is 24 inches long!

Remind me not to be semi out of commission for my baby when he goes through his next traumatic visit. Thanks.

Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be low-key. Although we have friends moving in with us for a week, and the teens are coming over Sunday to watch the Passion of the Christ. Shew, I need to go clean.

After Pey and I sleep. A. Lot.

dirty

My kid has dirty fingernails... and he loves outside. I can't blame his dirty fingernails on being outside though. Not yet anyways. I spent today dreaming of the future. Having my sweaty, stinky boy playing outside on Spring evening catching lightening bugs. It makes my heart happy. So does sitting on the patio with my 8 week old while watching daddy grill steaks. :) Yay for warm weather and two boys that I love!

busy bee and barely 7 weeks old

We ventured out to church for the second week. There was a luncheon for our missions team so Peyton was passed on like a hot potato getting loved on by many, and even had a lip stick kiss on his face to show for it! It was rubbed off by even more kisses before I could get a picture.

Peyton's bedtime routine is already becoming very necessary for him. He is pretty fussy around 8-830, is completely relaxed, usually, during his bath, then fusses while getting dressed/lotioned until he konks out while eating/rocking. I'm a huge fan of this time with him, singing and praying with our little man is something I look forward to every evening now.

Drew and I had a talk about needing some hobbies. Or at least different things to spend our time doing. Exercising/walking the neighborhood was one, and another was working on a difficult puzzle. We are timing ourselves so I will let you know our progress... it could be a long while.

Peyton and Kaehlen have met before, but this week was the first time they were both awake and happy. They just stared at each other. As future bffs I think it went pretty great. Kaehlen did start whimpering anytime she heard Peyton cry, we have yet to decide whether she just doesn't want to see him upset, thinks its super strange, or just doesn't like the racket he makes. I choose to think she was just concerned for him. :)

We were hanging out with the Lomasneys Thursday night when we heard a loud thump against our house. Samshe and I, being the new moms, jumped and ran to check on our babies - you know, in case the infants who cant crawl, let alone stand and climb, fell out of their beds where they were sleeping. They were sound asleep, and nothing had fallen off of the walls. Brandon and Drew went outside in case there was someone sneaking around outside, and what do they find?? A turkey, that had flown straight into the back of our house. The neighbor behind us verified it. The turkey gave me the major heebie jeebies, let's just say, it's in a better place now. But talk about weird. The next morning this was all that remained.

That bedtime routine? Yeah, Peyton had a 7 hour stretch of sleep, and then another 3. We were happy campers even if we didn't get quite that much.

Mason and Kylee had the day off of school so they came to see me for several hours. The totally made my week! I think Kylee told me she loved me approximately 873 times, and Mason just knows that him and Peyton are now best friends. They were both GREAT with Peyton, giving him stuffed animals, playing on the ground with him, and being genuinely concerned when Peyton cried. Peyton did good with them by sleeping despite the screaming, and smiling for a good 45 minutes so they could play with him.

Oh yeah, my kid turned 7 weeks on Thursday. While his favorite position is sitting up on our thigh, this was the first time he could sit on his own in his bumbo. I'm sorry but he is too young to be doing that in my oppinion, but he loved it!

Look cousin Owen, look what I can do! And what Mason and Kylee, at 4 and 2 1/2 can do! :)

We just love our sweet baby!

Your seeing correctly, that's a 0-3 month onesie that is on the small side. He has already busted out of several of his sleepers. Again I say, he's only 7 weeks!!!! Where's my baby going?? Wherever it is, it's too fast!

sickly

My baby has a cold, or something.. He wakes up often, screaming. He has a super stuffy nose and eats constantly, but not a lot at a time. He definitely isn't himself, but when we took him for a walk tonight, he was wonderful. Apparently the poor guy needed some fresh air  to wiggle his toes! He was wide-eyed the whole walk, and then we stayed outside to watch Drew rake our front yard ( a project from the last plumbing incident). He was just as happy as a clam.

Really though, how happy are clams??

I will say though, that I raised him up in the air to play with him and he was NOT a fan of that. Poor baby screamed so hard I thought I had broken something! Note to self... 6 week old babies - no matter how smiley they appear to be- are not old enough to handle too much playfulness. At least not my sensitive boy. So glad that he enjoy himself a little today. Hears to hoping he sleeps well tonight!

scrub a dub dub

I used to scream during baths...

Now, give me a  rag, and I'll recline, relax... and sleep really well afterwards!

My Prayer for Peyton

You're a little piece of heaven
You're a golden ray of light
Ad I wish I could protect you
From the worries of this life
But if there's one thing I could tell you
It's no matter what you do
Hold to Jesus
He's holding on to you

The world will try to tell you
That might is more than right
That beauty's on the outside
And being good's a losing fight
But remember what I've told you
Because the world will make you choose
Hold to Jesus
He's holding on to you

Hold on to Jesus
Cling to His love
Rest deep in His mercy
Whenever things get rough
Don't lose sight of His goodness
And don't ever doubt this truth
That when you hold on to Jesus
He's holding on to you

Hear me dear Jesus
Rock this little one to sleep
Keep him [her]close when [s]he's scared
And give him [her] grace when [s]he is weak
I know [s]he'll stumble
But I know [s]he'll make it through
If you hold to him [her] just like
You said You'd do
Hold him [her] Jesus
And [s]he'll hold on tight to You
