Yay for Spontaneity

Drew, Peyton, and I went on a spontaneous beach trip to Myrtle Beach this past week. Summer is always crazy when you work at a church between camps, missions trips, VBS, etc so we jumped on the chance to get away now. We stayed in a house in Ocean Lakes Campground and had a wonderfully relaxing time!! It was so nice not having a single agenda. We were simply together and did whatever we felt like at the time.

We went to the outlets, boardwalk, barefoot landing, Wings, Fuddruckers (3 times - my hubby is a little crazy about the burgers!), Olive Garden and hit up both Krispie Kreme and Dunkin Donuts.

We chased ducks...

It was a little windy/cool, so when we couldn't play in the sand, we played in the indoor pool. Peyton did great for his 3rd time ever in one. (The first two were when he was only 6 months old.) He kicked his feet, and loved throwing a splash bomb that we found!

The house was well stocked with pots and pans, so Peyton enjoyed helping us cook. He would keep himself busy for hours minutes putting stuff in and out of the pots.
Peyton didn't seem to get tired of the burgers and fries - Drew was proud.
We were able to take naps with Peyton, play x-box, read, and only do a little homework.
Mmmm.... yummy sand. :) He LOVED the sand. We build a sand castle and mote, we ate goldfish covered in sand, we (by we I mean Peyton) sat in the ocean once but for the most part was afraid of it and clung to us. We were fine with that since the water was super chilly. I've never been to the beach in sweats and a t-shirt, but I didn't hate it actually. It was quiet, and we didn't sweat, and I didn't have to worry too much about Peyton getting burnt. I was able to lay out on the beach one day while Peyton napped and Drew played x-box. The next day Drew went to play golf during nap time while I laid on the porch and read. Those times alone were wonderful!

There was a playground at the campground as well while Peyton adored. He loved the slide, and climbing through other parts as well. We stopped here many times throughout the week.

There was a golf cart at the house because it wasn't super close to the beach, and we rode around in it at least twice a day, sometimes more. Every time we went inside Peyton would point to the door wanting to be back out. We rode around several days close to nap time and he would fall asleep in mine or Drew's arms. That made for an easy afternoon!
We went to the arcade looking for a change machine so we could feed the ducks. Of course we couldn't resist letting Peyton play a couple games. He did awesome at the basketball one! I think he won 8 tickets. :)
There were several lakes in Ocean Lakes Campground (go figure, huh?) and they all had several ducks to feed. Peyton was timid at first but loved throwing bread and duck food at them. By the end of the week he would point to them whenever we passed the lake and could 'quack' like a duck. (
His quack is pretty much a high pitched and quick squeal but we love it!)

Like I said, there was no agenda, but we were able to do so many wonderful things whenever we felt like it! We may or may not have rented several red boxes and eaten way to much junk food, but we had a wonderful time away with our small family. I think we're ready to take on the crazy summer now!
